Crowder College offers General Educational Development (GED) preparation
classes. These classes are available through Crowder College AEL
in a variety of locations. The Crowder College AEL program also
offers a unique option with the Missouri Department of Education
which allows Missouri students to prepare for the GED test by using
study materials available through www.gedonlineclass.com.
For more information, contact Crowder College AEL at 417-455-5490
or e-mail ael@crowder.edu.
GED tests are developed and distributed by the American Council
on Education; their Web site has explanations of all test sections
as well as sample test questions.
Testing:
Crowder College campuses in Neosho, Cassville, and Nevada are official
GED test sites for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education (MDESE).
In order to take the GED test you must first submit an application
to the MDESE for approval. This form can be picked up or mailed
from an Crowder College AEL class site or you can download the application
directly from the MDESE Web site.
When you have received approval from the MDESE to take the GED test,
follow these steps to register:
- Go
to an Adult Education center near you (above):
a. Complete the GED demographic form (information packet)
b. View the video to familiarize yourself with the calculator
and Alternate Format Gridding.
c. Take a GED practice test to familiarize yourself with the new
test format and content.
- Contact
Crowder College GED testing office at 417-455-5530 to make
an appointment to take the test. You will need the following:
a. Approved GED application
b. $20.00 test administration fee (cash or money order only) due
one prior to testing
c. Completed GED demographic form (must be obtained and completed
at an Adult Education site or picked up in person at the CCAEL
office)
d. A Missouri driver's license or Missouri non-driver's license
photo ID
A calendar is available listing dates for each Crowder College
testing location. Each site will make every effort to serve as
many people as possible but test slots are limited. Registration
is on a first-come-first-served basis.
Fees:
Candidates are required to pay a $20 testing fee directly to the
CCAEL office one week prior to testing. If the testing fee is
not received by the deadline, the testor will be unable to test.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Scores:
After you have taken the GED examination there is generally a
3 to 4 week wait for test results. Any questions related to scoring
should be made to the MDESE in Jefferson City, Missouri at 573-751-3504
-- not to the campus Assessment Office or Testing Center that
hosted your test.
